Equipment

For field hockey you are going to need equipment, this includes. Stick, turf shoes, shin guards, socks for over your shin guards, (gloves if playing indoor, or playing on turf), mouthguard, and goggles(if required by your coach, or if you have glasses).

Sticks are the main piece of equipment for field hockey, so it's very important you get a stick that is the right size and will help you perform to the best of your ability. To find the right size stick FOR YOU is to first off find a stick you like, then make sure your stick is the same height as you hip, then take that stick and dribble(which is when you take the ball and tap it with the flat side of the stick) make sure it feels right and you feel comfortable.

The other equipment is easy to get. To get turf shoes all you need to do is go to a local sports store and ask for field hockey turf shoes(i prefer asics, the mold to your feets and have gel built in to the soul so your feet feel like they're walking on air. Next when you're at your sports store look for the field hockey section, there you will find your, shinguards, socks, gloves, and goggles. (you may need to look in another section of the store to find the mouth guards.

Make sure you like everything you get, make sure everything fits, and feels comfortable. For example make sure you goggles don't dig into your forehead or your mouth guard is to big. Make sure you follow the rules as well, so make sure your mouth guard is always in and if even the umpire wants you to wear goggles or take out earrings or jewelry, make SURE you do it.
